Open mSupply represents our most recent advancement in the Logistics Management Information System (LMIS), expanding on more than two decades of development inherited from the well-established legacy of the original mSupply.
When the user is logged into a Remote Store, by design they cannot see the Item Variants tab under Catalogue -> Items. Item Variants are visible under Inbound Shipments, Customer Returns and View Stock, however there is no place for the user to see all item variants or what they contain per item.
Expected behaviour 🤔
I think a good solution would be to still have the tab Item Variants visible on Remote Sites, but maybe make it read-only if the goal is to only have central server users manipulate the information. Otherwise any other solution works, for example show the variant information under General tab (although for consistency maybe having Item Variant tab is better).
How to Reproduce 🔨
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:
Log into your Remote Store
After setting up some variants on your Central Server, sync your Remote Site
You should be able to see the dropdown field under Inbound Shipments, Customer Returns and View Stock
However, when you go to Catalogue -> View Items, there is no overview of variants and bundles per item
Therefore the feature is not super clear for remote site users
