Yea, it doesn't really work, it only work if you give it something similar to the dataset, and even then it only produces a few words.
The dataset that I used is no where enough to produce a good model, I wanted to go back and get more data, but I never had the resources to do so.
If you are looking to translate things, try https://www.syriac.io/translate, it supports two dialects.
I was just curious because there are not many NLP resources for Aramaic/Syriac and I work on some to produce.
You can try contacting the academic folks behind https://www.syriac.io/translate, maybe they will give you access to their models.
I just tryed the model, I used your notebook, your own examples. Doesn't really translate anything into Syriac, it outputs some random phrases in Syriac that have nothing to do with the sentence to translate. You have any other model most fine tuned?
