I send an example of a hiking tour. After deleting the needless breakpoints, the total distance diminished about 880m.

Some devices, e.g. Garmin Edge have an auto pause feature https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/edge1030/EN-US/GUID-C5E73CA9-B524-41D7-8D78-1114D9C35274.html which prevents to create these virtual distances

Hi Wolfgang, the auto pause works well for cycling, but not for hiking. The speed is to low. Even the famous GPSMAP64 has no auto pause option.
Even in my cycling tracks I have trackpoints to delete. For example a wrong turn creates an unneeded spike.

I use GPSMAP64 and same problem that sometimes points are beside the real track. I think it would be a very heplful function

Perhaps this task can be done by improving the tour editor. I will start a new request.

It would be very helpfull to delete trackpoints in the 2D Map. Select the trackpoint with the mousepointer and press DEL. Then the mousepointe should switch to the next trackpoint.
Motivation: When you have a break while hiking or biking, the gps receiver still records trackpoints. These are often hopping around your place and create a virtual distance. To get a clean distance and altidude you have to delete these unnecessary trackpoints. Working in the table of the Tour editor is very unhandy. You cannot jump to a given location of the 2d Map.
