inadyn does not updated DYNDNS service #918

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. setup inadyn update client for dyndns
2. try to update dyndns when IP address changes
3. let the router auto update DYNDNS or force update DYNDNS with new IP address

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I get the following in my logs, but DYNDNS never updates.

Jan  1 19:38:57 inadyn[2672]: Inadyn version 1.99.2 -- Dynamic DNS update
client.
Jan 1 19:38:57 DHCP WAN Client: bound (eth3), IP: *.*.*.*, GW: *.*.*.*, lease
time: 7200
Jan  1 19:38:58 inadyn[2672]: Resolving hostname router.dyndns.org => IP#
*.*.*.*
Jan 1 19:38:58 inadyn[2672]: Checking for IP# change, connecting to
checkip.dyndns.org(91.198.22.70)
Jan 1 19:38:58 inadyn[2672]: Update needed for alias router.dyndns.org, new
IP# *.*.*.*
Jan 1 19:38:58 inadyn[2672]: Sending IP# update to DDNS server, connecting to
members.dyndns.org(204.13.248.111)
Jan 1 19:38:58 inadyn[2672]: Successful alias table update for
router.dyndns.org => new IP# *.*.*.*

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

And what is a question?

In your log you may see "Successful alias table update"...

My question is that even though this is listed, it does not update DYNDNS.

I can run a manual update as well and it does not actually set my new IP
address.

At April I received this message from Dyn.com:

{{{
Starting now, if you would like to maintain your free DynDNS account, you must
log into your account once a month. Failure to do so will result in expiration
and loss of your hostname. This activity helps us eliminate hostnames that are
no longer needed and/or dormant. Note that an update client will not suffice
for this monthly login.

We understand that the possibility of resulting service interruptions may be
frustrating, so we are offering a one-time transition upgrade to VIP status for
just $10 USD/year. Under this status, login will not be required and service
will remain uninterrupted for an entire year.
}}}

I think, you must login into your account on dyn.com over their WEB-interface
