PPTP VPN connection problem #938

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I'm having problem connecting to my home network through the PPTP VPN server on
my N56U router.

My settings:
1. Activate PPTP under VPN Server
2. Authentication: MS-CHAP v2 only
3. MPPE: Auto
4. Broadcast traffic: Both directions
5. MTU: 1460
6. MRU: 1460
7. Create username/password and save.

The log on the router during the connection attempt:

Aug 14 17:03:05 pptpd[3861]: CTRL: Client x.x.x.x control connection started
Aug 14 17:03:05 pptpd[3861]: CTRL: Starting call (launching pppd, opening GRE)

I've tried with both my Apple Ipad 2 and my Samsung Galaxy S4 and I'm running
RT-N56U_3.4.3.6-064_full on my N56U. Earlier versions of the router firmware
worked just fine, I don't remember which version..

Hi, I've hit the same issue. The behavior I've seen is as follows:

1) Connect to VPN from other device (laptop, phone, etc..) works as planned,
then disconncet
2) Trying to connect from the N56 timesout as above (30 sec)
3) reboot N56 router
4) Then I can connect to my VPN from the router
5) Disconnect the router from the VPN
6) Try to connect from laptop (like step 1), timeouts like above

Looking at the debug logs, it looks like the GRE packets aren't being passed
through the router after one connection has been established and the router
needs to be rebooted to get a connection up again. Connecting from the same
device over and over works as expected.

Thanks,
Marc
