Vanguard Avatars are wrong #100

Open MickHardins opened 8 years ago

MickHardins commented 8 years ago

Every avatar (eg Sliver Queen Avatar ) in the Vanguard set has the type set to "Vanguarg" instead of Avatar(i think because they're wrong on gatherer too). Some of them have wrong hand/life modifiers(eg goblin warchief avatar) and wrong flavour(eg Sliver Queen Avatar). I think that also the name is wrong: it should be Sliver queen instead of Sliver queen avatar.

Some links:

Sliver Queen on gatherer: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?printed=true&multiverseid=201075

Sliver Queen on magiccards.info : http://magiccards.info/extra/other/vanguard-mtgo-2/sliver-queen.html

Squee, Goblin Nabob on gatherer: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=182293

Squee, Goblin Nabob on magiccards.info : http://magiccards.info/extra/other/vanguard-mtgo-2/squee-goblin-nabob.html

I haven't checked them all but i suspect they're all wrong.

@lsmoura Have you already checked this bug? :)

Not really...

Let's see if I understand... There is no "Avatar" names in the Avatar cards?

MickHardins commented 8 years ago

Sliver queen on gatherer:

Name: Sliver queen avatar type : vanguard

This doesn't match data printed on cards, it should be:

Name: Sliver Queen type: vanguard avatar

I suspect they're all wrong although i haven't checked them all, some of them have also wrong hand/life modifier. To understand better, look at the links i provided. Magiccards.info has the correct images, unfortunately gatherer has different images(maybe generated?) and data from gatherer differs even from their own images.

If still not clear let me know and i'll try to provide a more complete sets of examples!

The names are correct. The “Avatar” is part of the name of the cards, to disambiguate from regular cards (e.g. Sliver Queen vs. Sliver Queen Avatar). They don't appear on the printed/rendered card since the card frame and type line already conveys that it's an avatar.

The card type vanguard is also correct, since that's how they are referred to in the Comprehensive Rules.

However, the Oracle text on some of them is outdated, e.g. Momir Vig, Simic Visionary Avatar hasn't been updated to use create.

It's worth noting that Gatherer also credits UDON Entertainment for most of the Vanguard artist credits, rather than listing the individual artist. (yay outsourcing)

I'm not sure what the correct thing to do with the artist credits is, but I figured that it should be mentioned.
