Vista Start Menu Shortcut Doesn't Work #19

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install on Windows Vista to Program Files\d-box\ with start menu
shortcut option selected
2. Attempt to open start menu shortcut, or run .jar from Program Files

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
One would expect the program to launch. It doesn't, but each time you try a
new Java runtime process starts.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
D-box version 2.0.
Operating System: Windows Vista

Please provide any additional information below.
Using the desktop shortcut works - when doing this, the config files for
D-Box are generated on the desktop.
My hunch: D-Box is getting the directory of the shortcut used to launch
D-Box as the working directory. On vista, UAC prevents the protected Start
Menu and Program Files directories from being written to, so the program
stalls on startup, but the desktop - being in the Users directory, has no
such protection

Hi, sorry for not answering earlier, but now I know what you mean, and it's
fixed in
the forthcoming D-Box 2.2. Check out issue 21
