Dear, Mike! I really liked your program! Could you clarify please, are you planning to update soon the hmm profile db?

mtisza1 commented 1 year ago

Sergey,

Thanks for your question. I have plans to update the hmm profile db in the next 4 -5 months, but I admit these are only plans and it could be delayed. At this point, I'm committed to maintaining Cenote-Taker 2 as I still see a lot of utility in it despite the advent of other virus bioinformatics tools that have come out more recently, and it appears that many people actively use it. However, new features and major updates are going to be infrequent. I don't have time or money to work on this explicitly at the moment, but you never know when that could change.

If you have hmm profiles that you want me to consider for the next update, please send those along.

Thanks a lot for your answer, Mike! I understand you. As for the RNA of viruses, an article by U.Neri et al. (Expansion of the global RNA virome reveals diverse clades of bacteriophages, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cell.2022.08.023) has recently been published (you probably saw it), in this article there are links to intact genes RdRp (https://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pub/wolf/misc/JGI-TAU/) file tmp.core.intact.fa.gz). Perhaps this can serve the development of the program database.
