HTC Hero software keyboard issues #174

Nothing happens when pressing the button for numerical input on the HTC
Hero. Holding the buttons for alternate characters works, but will
inevitably send the normal character for the button first.

I'm using the latest release from the front page; r379

I have the same problem. 
HTC Hero with orginal rom purchased in Sweden.
When you press and hold a key to get the alternatives like ! on a the result is 
a!
and when press and holding o the get ö I get oö.
Under Settings > Locale & text I've got the following settings:
Select Locale : English (Sweden)
> Touch Input 
Keyboard language : Swedish
Is this a duplicate of Issue 166?
