Donut is adding a key management function. I was planning on waiting for that to
remember things like this.

Good idea, any idea about when it will be released and how to use that function?

I do think that method will be a memcache like function, just store as
key/value and
hash by package name also permit used by that package.

Please add this feature. We are not allowed to use public key authentication
but we
are allowed to save passwords. This would make life much easier.

I understand waiting for the functionality to be partly coded already, however,
it
may be worth coding for some of the older versions. Phones like the Cliq
shipped with
1.5 and many providers/manufacturers are being very tight lipped about any
updates
now that 2.0 is out. Its possible they won't provide upgrades and thus those
users
would otherwise be locked out of a very nice function. Something to consider.
Still a
fan either way myself.

A useful addition would be to save the last remote directory along with the
password..
both passwords and directories tend to be long and it is a royal pain to retype
them..
thanks.

This is possibly the most useful app on my Nexus One already, but if it could
remember passwords too?
That would make it the best app in the market as far as I'm concerned.

Probably the only thing that makes this app kind of awkward to use. Difficult
passwords are hilariously easy to mistype on a virtual keyboard, and when the
user gets locked out after 3 attempts...

I have to agree with this request. Virtual keyboard + Fail2ban = bad news.

It would be enormously helpful to be able to store auto login information with
hosts in Connectbot. In fact the way PuTTY Connection Manager for Windows
handles this functionality would be a perfect way to do it under Connectbot IMO.

Thanks

I implemented the cytown diff changes in my personal fork of this project
(available at my github). It's become stale now though because of having too
many changes that won't cleanly merge with later versions and me being lazy.
However, it does seem like it sends something invalid the first time. A friend
had a problem using it where he put a temp-ban after one failed attempt and it
failed even before he could enter the password. Other than that it seems to
work fine though. It stores the passwords in plain text in the sqlite-database
however so it's not exactly secure. The Secure Credentials storage does not
seem to have been updated much since 1.6 and is still pretty much undocumented
so some custom functionality like this is still a good idea.

I recently found out that this feature is available in a knock-off app called
Connectbot-pslib. Works great for me. :)

The connectbot-pslib (fork?) does not do this properly and is broken; the usual
keyboard-interactive authentication still requires a password. I am in the same
boat as other users; ssh keys are either not supported or conflict with the
security architecture.

When this feature is implemented, please ensure it works in
keyboard-interactive mode.

This would be a good addition - I appreciate there are security risks with
saving passwords... but it really should be up to the user to make this
decision. Excellent product!

I don't get it. How mqnu years does it take to add this feature? Isn't there
someone that still maintains the app? I'm just looking for a simple ssh client
on android that can port forward and authenticate automatically.
