Not quite sure if the extension provides one. Thought it does with the number of unreaded messages. Does it? I only have pidgin's native tray icon in the systray. I am on Manjaro linux, tried installing extension both via https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/782/pidgin-im-integration and AUR

This extension provides no tray icon. Only GS notifications.

Here, I have no systray icon at all. Just a grey field that I needed to learn to click on. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, gnome-shell-3.22.1-1.1.x86_64, pidgin-2.11.0-3.2.x86_64. Is that intended behavior?

@mwilck Extension provides no icons. Just notifications.

mwilck commented 7 years ago

I find this a little strange because it's necessary to click on the empty space in the systray to perform certain actions (e.g. "Show Buddy List"). It took me a while to learn that... So I reckon I'd have to file a feature request to add an icon?

The system tray icon that does those things comes from Pidgin, not this extension. This extension has nothing to do with it. It could be that your icon theme is screwed up and that is why the icon is not displaying. Perhaps try changing to a default icon theme and seeing if that helps?

mwilck commented 7 years ago

No special themes here ... all defaults. But thanks for the information, anyway.

muffinmad commented 7 years ago

@mwilck There are option "Blink on New Messages" in pidgin systray icon menu. Uncheck it.

mwilck commented 7 years ago

@muffinmad, that did it (after restarting pidgin). Thanks a lot!
