It would be nice, if gespeaker can be launched from command-line with file (or text from stdout) that should be spoken.

Actually, this can be achieved pretty easily, with 2 minor changes:

pass all arguments to gespeaker.py at start, and
in 'welcome' plugin, before setting default greeting, check for input using 'fileinput', and set it, if present.

This could be achieved via dbus interface. But it needs more tests before closing this issue
