SSHFS dies if remote machine doesn't have SFTP enabled #121

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. try and connect to a machine with SSHD running but without SFTP enabled

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

SSFS GUI just quits after entering correct password, no message, no nothing
sshfs CLI outputs a 'remote host has closed connection' after prompting for
password

In neither case is there any indication of why it's failed - nor is there
any obvious documentation that points out that sshfs is really sftpfs :)

Remote machine log shows what actually happened (SFTP subsystem not running
on remote machine).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

OS X 10.4.8
SSHFS 0.1.0

sshfs.app is /unsupported/, open source, and available to volunteers to 
fix/enhance/replace.
