It would be really awesome if support could be built into chromes native 
dev-toolbar (the one that replaces firebug in chrome).

Support for Chrome's dev-toolbar would be awesome. Unfortunately I don't know 
how to do this, or if it is even possible at all...

Hi, it seems the means for doing that were added in latest chrome nightly 
builds, and soon will be available in stable. You can see the details in the 
chromium issue you left the link.
