iOS app - iRig not handled well. #127

The mumble app doesn't seem to work well with the "iRig for mic" adapter for the ipad/ipod/iphone. My exact steps: Plug in irig device start mumble app connect to server when i talk sometimes my audio is transmitted and sometimes it isnt. self_muting/self_unmuting restores my mic audio for a short period before cutting out. The mic audio will cut in and out. Mic audio also has an echo problem when using the irig /w mumble.

When tested with skype the irig worked flawlessly. I'm not sure if this is something you are willing to fix/support the irig for mic adapter, but if you would, I would greatly appreciate it! I am also willing to provide more feedback on the issues with the device if needed!

Does it work with an other mic for you? Did you try restoring your settings to default? Did you adequately follow the Audio Wizard? Specifically, I would be looking at noise suppression, amplification, echo cancellation, and check for any programs that could tamper with the mic device (driver).

  1. I tried a few different mics with the adapter but all behaved the same (described below).
  2. Yes
  3. The iOS app doesnt have an Audio Wizard.
  4. Noise Suppression is off, amplification is off, echo cancellation is off.

Testing Procedures:

  1. I plugged in the iRig prior to starting the app (I've also tested this by plugging it in after the app is loaded).
  2. Started the app with the default settings.
  3. connected to server.
  4. upon connecting to the server no audio could be heard from me.
  5. self-muted and then unself-muted and audio started to work.
  6. Audio turned very sporadic and eventually cut out.
  7. Audio sometimes restores by itself but when it doesn't, self-muting and then unself-muting restores the sporadic audio (until it eventually cuts out again).
  8. When the iRig device is removed and a mic is directly attached, audio is clean and constant.
  9. I tested with 3 Brand new iRig adapters and get the same results .

Additional info: iRig adapters were tested with skype and worked flawlessly, however I do not wish to use skype as mumble is much better :+1:

Tested on: iPhone 4 iPad

I think this issue should be migrated to the Repo for the ios app. @davidebeatrici could you move the issue?

@supawiz6991 Is the issue fixed?

Not that I know of. I'm also no longer at the company I was with when I encountered this problem and thus do not have the hardware to check for it.
