Okay, to summarize:
- Browser access to HTTP API works.
- Remote control which uses Event Server works.
- Rest doesn't work (everything HTTP API related).
Now, I'll need you to confirm the following:
- In XBMC, under Settings -> Network -> Servers, is the web server port set to
8080?
- On the same screen, try to disable username/password settings.
- Can you verify that the Hero's IP address is in the same subnet than XBMC?
There's
"WhatIsMyIp" on Android Market if you can't find out your address.
- Make sure "Use Zeroconf" is disabled in xbmcremote's settings screen.
Then I'll need to know what excactly happens. If the host is not available, the
home
screen should say "Connecting..." for 5 seconds, after that you should either
get a socket
timeout message or another message. "Not working" doesn't really help much :)

I am having the same issues with XBMC under xbox however there is no disable
zero
conf options, I've tried changing username/password and port settings and also
disabled and reenabled the web server.
