Manually refresh album covers #30

XBMC Remote is downloading all the album covers nicely. I noticed that some
are missing or incorrect for my library so I updated them in my music
folder and updated the XBMC library.

Can XBMC Remote refresh these changed covers? While an automatic refresh
could be difficult it would be useful to have a periodic re-check of albums
with missing cover (e.g. once a day or something like that) and have a
context menu option to refresh the cover manually.

Ah, I think XBMC Remote will recheck them when it is completely restarted.
Leaves the
issue of somehow refreshing changed covers.

Yeah non-available covers are rembered until the memcache is full or the app is
restarted. Changed covers aren't even updated in the XBMC library AFAIK, unless
you
delete all thumbs and rescan everything.

So I guess that makes the context menu obsolete. Better get your artwork right
once and
then scan everything.

You can force a complete reload by deleting the XBMC folder on your sdcard.

They are not updated automatically in XBMC but I can manually set them in XBMC
to the
correct image. The context menu item would force XBMC Remote to reload the
cover from
XBMC for that specific album.

The other approach I tried right now was copying the while xbmc folder from
sdcard to
my PC, renaming all files to have a jpg extension and then browse through the
original folder with large enough thumbs to spot the cover I want to replace.
Then I
searched in the Music folder (incl. subfolders) for the filename of the image
and
removed them from the SD card. After restarting XBMC it loaded those images
correctly
since they were no longer in the cache. This works but is a major pain to do.
It is
ok if you only have to do it once but probably not doable by most non tech-savvy
users. Therefore I hope you will add the context menu item.

The complete reload by deleting the XBMC folder would work but takes a long
time if
you have many albums.

Okay I'll figure out some way to too obtrusive. Not high on priority list
though.

"XBMC Remote is downloading all the album covers nicely."

Nicely? Version 0.6.4 through 0.6.7 downloads them, displays them and then
resizes
them. That's not nice. (HTC Hero, Android 1.5)

I don't understand comment 7. Care to elaborate?

I think this bug is more about adding an method to manually select a TV show
(or season), movie, or Music Album and request that the thumbnail be removed
and downloaded again... This is useful for when a image is downloaded and is
not correctly resized.
