BOOTH TO SELL PRINTS #52

Open juliusakula opened 3 years ago

juliusakula commented 3 years ago

from Catfish:

cool pictures of sandpoint, dreamed up and framed, would fly off the shelves in the gift shops. Like 8x10 images. so 8x10 frame, or 11x14 frame with a mat on same size image. Like Jaimie was saying.. 300dpi will determine your largest size. https://www.artinsandpoint.org/arts-crafts-fair

Acceptance is determined by a jury. The fair also includes food vendors, live entertainment, and a youth arts area. We typically see a crowd of about 3,500 visitors each year. Your jury and booth fees directly benefit POAC’s programs in visual and performing arts and art education for the benefit of our community.

Applications are due by April 2nd.

There is a $35 application fee.

You will be notified of acceptance/denial by May 7th.

Booth fees are due June 4th, upon notice of acceptance.

Check-in and set-up is August 13th, 5-8 pm

Booths are 225,300.425 and extra 50 for premium (central) if you can get it.

Booth potential

I own a 10 x 10 pop up canopy -- basically a booth with no walls

If I can hang photos I can bring in customers, and the goal is to hit a $20 price point for 8 x 10 photos

Costs:

$225 for 10 x 10 booth, $35 application fee, plus any photos I have printed to display before being sold.

One wall of prints -- two rows , 9 feet of usable space for 8 x 10s --- ~ 20 prints can fit?

Another wall of prints two 27 x 40's can fit in

The two walls could have the content pointed inwards to the desk and me. This is imagining me on a corner. Most likely will be a middle booth (most will be middle booths) so would want 3 walls of photos, with the one in the back being large photos, and the ones on the side being double-sided, to draw attention from further away ... that makes the cost depend on how I fill 5 (one sided) panels full of prints.

Electricity costs an extra $25, but a video of extremely cool footage would be soooo coool running on a TV at my booth

Assuming a middle of the aisle booth, 5 panels worth of prints pre-made would look something like

Back wall (inside) -- big images can be seen from across the table -- 2x 27 x 40 prints (landscape)-- 2 prints

Left wall (inside) 20x 8x10 prints (vertical or landscape) each wall -- 20 prints (two rows of 10 prints)

right wall (inside) 20x 8x10 prints (vertical or landscape) each wall -- 20 prints (two rows of 10 prints)

Left wall (outside) -- 10x 8x10 prints (vertical or landscape) with an ultrawide panorama below (16" tall?) -- 11 prints

Right wall (outside) -- 6x 8x10 prints (vertical or landscape) front side of panel with a 27 x 40 towards the back panel. -- 7 prints

total: 56x 8x10, 3x 27x40, 1x (16" tall ultrawide)

60 prints! Trying to make a $10 profit on every print and that makes a $600 profit for the day if every print is sold (not going to happen) Maybe value can be extracted by being the way to find clients.. If I spend $260 + (a lot to) acquire these clients, I would want to land 10 clients on the day and count it as a win even if I sold zero photos.

$2.50 - $1.87 to get a 8 x 10 print makes a price point of $15-20 feasible with no frame. If I can find a frame under $7.50, $20 will be a $10 profit https://www.nationsphotolab.com/prints_8x10.aspx?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyNrGtuy67wIV0cDICh062gYfEAQYAiABEgLy4PD_BwE

Also, I can charge $5 to take an insta pic photo (wallet print photo) (instant photo 1 for $5 2 for $10)

100 sheets is $75 https://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Instax-Instant-Plastic-Sticker/dp/B081D6VFDV/ so $0.75 each print. That has $500 potential revenue/ $425 profit

Could be a useful thing to go give photos of vendor's booth's to the vendor owners. Put a sticker on the back of their photo with my IG and the link to my blog. Network with the other artists! $0.75 cents a sheet and -- a sticker for any photo I am not keeping. I want to network with other vendors as much or more than I want to find clients in the crowd. Anyone with a booth is obviously a business owner so it's worth trying to get them to check out my booth and maybe buy something or follow me on instagram

Can give bottles of water to people for following me on instagram.

Largest print possible while keeping 300 dpi+ is 12 x 18 -- https://www.gotprint.com/products/large-format-posters/order.html?fid=2028871&size=497&quantity=1 -- $13 for 11x 17

Forget about 27 x 40 prints. Camera is only 48 MP and for good looking photos best to not scale it up so incredibly much. I did buy that 27 x 40 frame though, so should maybe get one printed and put it in the frame.
