Adding Tacet for parts where the instrument has tacet for a movement. #11225

Open FancyMrMurray opened 2 years ago

FancyMrMurray commented 2 years ago

Task description Please make a formatting option to allow for instrument parts to just read as a multi-measure rest with "TACET" if they have only rests for a movement of a piece. Something like only rests in between the start and end of movements, using the section break object to seperate movements. (As a tuba player I see a lot of them, and want to make other people feel the same way lol).

Please give this issue a title

Let me add my opinion on this issue. Indeed, it would be nice to implement the "tacet" designation in instrumental parts. But there are some nuances to consider here:

  1. It is appropriate to designate a multi-measure rest "tacet" only if the performer is silent the entire work or from the beginning of any movement to the very end of the work (i.e., the designation tacet is not appropriate, for example, if the performer plays only at the beginning of the last movement — then tacet is not indicated either in the previous movement, nor after the start of the last movement, because otherwise there will be no place in the instrumental part to include cues for the performer). 2. Based on the above (in the 1st paragraph), it can be concluded that the only designation available for multi-measure rests can be called "tacet al fine". Снимок экрана (458)
