[MU4 Issue] Timpani is too quiet during editing #16218

Open Koopa1018 opened 1 year ago

Koopa1018 commented 1 year ago

Describe the bug When clicking or moving a note on a timpani, the note plays back much more quietly than other instruments. This makes timpani difficult to work with, as aural feedback is severely reduced compared to the expectation.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Create or open a score with timpani and any other instrument
  2. Add notes on each staff; listen for audio playback while adding.
  3. Click on added notes and compare volumes.

Expected behavior Timpani is loud enough to hear during editing.

Does this happen with Muse Sounds, MS Basic, or both?

Koopa1018 commented 1 year ago

Muse Sounds. MS Basic works fine.

Chen1Plus commented 1 year ago

The sound of muse sound timpani is at least 20 decibels quieter than that of ms basic.

It seems that other instruments may also encounter this issue, but I have forgotten which ones. Moreover, the volume of many instruments from the "Muse Sound" series is slightly lower than that of the "MS Basic" series, making it inconvenient to use both "Muse Sound" and "MS Basic" simultaneously. We require a hotfix for "Muse Sound."

Actually, I think it's the other way around - MS Basic is too loud, always playing back louder during note input than the actual playback sound will be. See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/15375
