I'm raising this again as this is a fairly simple procedure in Polyphone and has a significant payoff for MS4 in terms of improved sound quality.
One other thing. There is a "reverb" parameter in the soundfont which is used to vary the percetage reverb applied to each instrument. If this is compatible with the MS4 setup, it could be used to apply differential reverbs: for example, to keep the kick drums relatively dry.
Issue type
General playback bug
Bug description
This was also an issue in MS3 but has not been corrected in MS4. All the drumset instruments sound center-stage; none have been panned, so effectively the percussion is sounding in mono; only the stereo reverb is giving the illusion of a stereo kit.
This is OK for the kick drum, snare, and sidestick but virtually all other instruments should be panned left/right to some extent.
Please see attached pdf which shows suggested pan positions for all the instruments of a GM2 kit (based on a commercially-available percussion soundset).

On reflection it would be a good idea to have one kit with all the instruments center-panned for use in single-percussion staves. But generally, the instruments of general drum/percussion kits should have stereo pan positions. It really does make a difference to the quality of the sound.
