The english translation for the visible part of the message is: "This file was last saved with M..."

Jojo-Schmitz commented 7 months ago

The full message is (or rather should be):

Questo file è stato salvato l'ultima volta in una versione precedente alla 2.0.0. Puoi convertire questa partitura aprendola e salvandola in MuseScore versione 2.x. Visita la pagina di download di MuseScore per procurarti tale versione 2.x.

Or

This file was last saved in a version older than 2.0.0. You can convert this score by opening and then saving in MuseScore version 2.x. Visit the MuseScore download page to obtain such a 2.x version.

Could you attach the score (ZIPed) that cause that error? (I tried opening 1.3 scores, even a 0.9.6.3 one, and an entirely different dialog shows)

The error message is actually wrong and gets generated when opening a score that is older than 0.9.6 ! And could get fixed by opening and saving it with any 1.x or 2.x version

Or an 'old' pre 3.0.0 format (i.e. from a 3.x development version before 3.0.0 release), in which case that message is equally wrong. There used to be a 'compatibility' build for those, I can't find it anymore though

This is covered by #13773, but I think it's not bad to have a separate issue for it.

strk commented 7 months ago

I can't remember which file it was, but if it's really really important I'll try to find it. Given the comment it looks like the bug is known already ?

Jojo-Schmitz commented 7 months ago

The fact that these messages are getting truncated and as such are basically unreadable seems known and recorded in #134773, but the problem with the message itself being wrong is not, so yes, a sample score would help investigating

Here is the file: https://oc.kbt.io/s/Q2RsJzK3EQdtycB Link will expire on January 8th so please download it before then

Peter_and_the_Wolf_Op.67.mscz.zip For it to not getting lost...

And here's the message I get when opening it on Windows 11 and in 4.2.0, in German: image And here the Italien one: image

So doesn't seem to be the same messages as originally reported? Neither truncated, nor wrong?

cbjeukendrup commented 6 months ago

The fact that it is not truncated there might relate to the default font being different on each OS
