Almost every time I add a "Change Instrument" indication or longish expression marking (e.g. "cresc. poco a poco") it crosses a barline and is hard to make out, requiring complex mucking around to ensure there's a white background (but no border!).
Generally I want every text based score indication to ensure that any barline that crosses through it is "broken"/masked out just enough to make it easy to read. It's fine if this is done via having a solid background colour and z-ordering that puts textual indications above barlines (but behind notes etc.), but it should be easier to do than it is now.
Problem to be solved
Ensure longer textual instructions are easy to read and not obscured by unimportant score elements such as barlines.
