Issue type

UX/interaction

  2. add any note
  3. add grace notes eg. acciaccatura
  4. Try adding slur, not working (See image below)

What is the latest version of MuseScore Studio where this issue is present?

MuseScore 4.4.1

Regression

I was unable to check

Operating system

Windows 11

Additional context

It should be possible with two or more grace notes to have a slur image

Also MS4 crashes when you try to move the entire slur, I am not sure if this works in macOS as I currently don't have access to it.

Again, this is a UX/interaction issue, not an engraving one.

It's perfectly possible to add a slur over multiple grace notes, e.g. image you just have to select the first and last notes. It won't work over a range selection.

I see, I'm used to selecting the entire range or part of the range on non grace notes. It seems that it isn't possible to select range with grace notes. Perhaps it should also work with range?

I'd agree it's a bug that it doesn't work with a range selection - hard to see how users could reasonably expect they need to use different types of selection between regular and grace notes

Mainly because I came from Sibelius (not sure if Finale does the same), which is what I’m used to. Additionally, range selection for slurs works with standard notes in MuseScore. As I transition my workflow from Sibelius to MuseScore, it’s natural to expect some familiarity. I’m sure other users making the transition expect the same.

The only reason I switched is that there are things that bug me in Sibelius, and MuseScore offers better sounds without having to spend a lot of money. When I heard MuseScore is easy to learn without much prior knowledge, I decided to make the switch, hoping to fully transition my workflow as MuseScore 4 matures.

The underlying problem (as with most grace note issues) is https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/18484. Once that's fixed, which we are planning, much of the rest will follow.
