Playing to non-existent player produces unfriendly message #2518

Have you tried everything in the Troubleshooting FAQ and reviewed the Open and Closed Issues and Discussions to resolve this yourself?

The problem

Trying to play to a powered-off device results in an unfriendly error

How to reproduce

  1. select player. I chose a Chromecast Ultra
  2. start playing content
  3. pause the player
  4. disconnect power from the Chromecast Ultra. I used a smartplug that disconnects the CC/AVR/TV
  5. press play on the player
  6. This happens.
