At the very least, separate "technique" from "expression" (to use the Sibelius terminology).

Arguably, instructions such as "pizz" etc should not be represented as text at all, while "dolce" and similar must be.

For free instructions/text, add at least position above/below and inline markup (maybe using pandoc-types definitions).
