may check the WiFi module. I think its always powered on - even if the android
is in sleep mode. WiFi needs a lot of battery.

I personally doubt it is due to wifi only. Running native windows with wifi on,
phinenstays on for inimal 1 day. Running android battery is drained in about
3-4 hours.

probably the keyboard LED stays ON + screen full brightness (because light
sensor does not works)

I have the same problem on battery lifetime.
When i check the task manager, i see many apps still running even I already
stop them.
possible due to some apps can't really "quit", which they stay running and
searching for network?

I have the same problem. About 10 hours with medium brightness and without
WIFI. No 3G connection. I think it could be the mAh of the battery. Nobody
thinks that the battery has poor capability?

for wifi+3g, take the latest version r127.
try reducing screen brightness.
we hope solving the sensor issue will have a good impact on battery.

The phone also becomes hot after some minutes of action. This could also be a
problem for the battery. I couldn't face this problem in WM

There is a constant drain of 250mA with display off.
Even in flightmode (no radios).
This has nothing todo with the sensors (light, proxy etc)
Its not the battery that gets warm. Its something in the lower part of the
phone.

Hi all,
just an idea from me..
May it be related to the fact that "anything" related to Android is stored into
SD and hence Photon must read the SD all the time..?
That may explain even the warm in lower back side of the phone.

hi orlando,
yes i'm sure you are right:)
HD2 users experienced the same problem as i remember, the battery was dead in 1
day or less..:(
Original comment by zoriciiu...@gmail.com
on 10 Jul 2011 at 9:07
I did a really simple test: I run Android for some minutes and then removed the
back cover.
I realized that the warmest part is the metal support which covers the SD.
Original comment by orlando.ferrara@gmail.com
on 11 Jul 2011 at 2:49
Dear Orlando and terenteyo,
this issue is NOT related to the pure fact we are using a SD build.
I use a SD build on my HD2 and I have a standby consumtion of 7mA.
HD Mini uses up to 250mA even in flight mode (all radios off)
Original comment by codiak@gmail.com
on 12 Jul 2011 at 8:55
My battery is draining at about 2% a minute with everything (radios too) turned
on. Normal use renders the device useless about 4 hours after a full charge.
250ma is really not good, clearly something needs to be tweaked. Whatever it is
I think it's safe to say that it is either a radio or a processor due to the
heat dissipation one can feel through the phone or as said earlier on the metal
part covering the SD card. Note, the SD is not getting hot, just the metal
(better conductor of heat)... Sensors show the battery at about 40 degrees C,
so whatever it is, its reaching the battery too.
Just my 2 cents :D

If you meant to have that @xteaopia I can telll you i used "battery mix"
available free on the android market, oh and I've hit higher temps in the past
after using resource intensive application.... nothing crashed though which is
always nice :)
I'd like to see this go back up to high priority as the entire android port is
rendered useless for everyday use when I barely get 4 hours worth of battery
norma use...

very fast empty, if I work (f.e.: read my mails, internet, try apps and so on)
with this device.
Question: Is it possible to store the Andriod system on the internal stored,

I think that android doesn't support speed-step technology and HTC use full CPU
power and in result battery liftime is reduced.

Wrong! You can scale frequencies and undervolt the cpu. Its all up to the
kernel ;)
Beside that, I dont think the cpu is the batt-honker. Must be some other
devices, but perhaps schlund will enlight us? ;)

I have the same issue and i think its about Wi-Fi. My photon has a lot heat on

stopped but i think its not completely..

with calls, when call was end also freez phone and only replace battery help.
Few times my phone was freez with blank screen.
Another event, for me strange.. was when i use telephone in supermarket where i
can't get signal gsm but when reset phone to Windows Mobile signal was very
strong.

I get the same issue.
I noticed that the lights of the buttons keep burning all the time, even when
the screens switches off/standby. The heat production in my HD mini seems to be
also there, indicating significant power consumption. Could this be related?
I did not yet try r167

Hello,
I have had with the previous version ("10.07.2011_r134++") greater durability
of the battery (about 24 hours), but with this new version, the battery has run
down to me in about 6 hours (only in standby!).
I admit, the previous version did not have a very accurate indicator of the
battery, but at least made the battery last longer.

Thanks v. much for this release, it fixes many things but the battery life does
not seem as good. I have done 2 full cycles, both got about 8 hours, usage was
light, mainly on standby, no calls but a couple of SMS.
