Line Selection

I am developing an iOS application that uses a scatter plot to plot some data 
points along with a trend line.  I would like the user to be able to select not 
only the data points, but the line itself.  That is, I would like to be 
notified when a touch down occurs within, say, 10 points of the line on either 
side.  Here is a picture illustrating the feature.
