wheel encoder is a device used to measure the rotational movement or position of a wheel. It provides information about the distance traveled, speed, and direction of rotation.

Types of Wheel Encoders

Incremental Encoders

These encoders generate pulses as the shaft rotates. They provide information about relative position and movement. Two output channels: A and B, which produce quadrature signals. No absolute position information: They reset to zero when powered on.

Absolute Encoders

These encoders provide unique digital codes for each position. They give absolute position information without needing a reference point. Binary or Gray code: Representing position. Higher resolution: Can provide finer position details. No need for homing: Retain position even after power cycles.
