Put Search bar below #348

I found myself navigating in aedict with just one thumb of one hand with which
I am holding my phone.

So, you need both hands, one to hold and one to point, to tap the search bar in
the upper part of the display.
Wouldn't it be great to have a possibility (in the options menue) to put the
search bar at the complete bottom, even below one's keyboard?
I assume searching would be even more comfy with the use of 2 hands if it had
been below instead of faaaar up and hard to reach.

I may have suggested that once before, I can't remember exactly.
Maybe that wasn't possible or such.

But anyway, tell me what you think.

Hi, I agree that the topmost placement of all of application controls is a bit
weird decision from Google as it is hard to reach when you hold the phone with
just one hand, e.g. in a subway. I keep struggling with this myself.
Unfortunately, I think it is impossible to put any content below the virtual
keyboard. However, what I can try to do is to move both the search bar and all
of the actionbar buttons to the bottom of the page (this could be made
configurable in the Settings), so that they will be right above the virtual
keyboard. What do you think?

Yeah, I remember you telling me that it was Google at the wrong here.

An "Just above the keyboard" - search bar would be splendid.

I will try it out and tell you what I think as soon as you have come up
with it.
Thanks.

I think the root of your problem is that you need to tap on search box to show
software keyboard, why not to show it automatically in the first place. For
example try to run google search app, there is just a search box and keyboard
appears automatically.

There is setting for that, in Settings, GUI, Omnisearch: Show Soft Input.
I think that the reporter is trying to control his phone with one hand only and
it may be quite hard with larger phones.

Omnisearch can now be moved to the bottom to the screen.
