Suggestion: Font for the big kanji #490

Hello.

This is a suggestion for your consideration.

I have several Japanese fonts that I would like to use, but some of them are too artistic or detailed to be useful for general use. However, it would be lovely to see them in the big kanji displayed in the kanji list. For example, a semicursive font, a calligraphic font, etc.

So my suggestion for you is to add an option to configure a font just for the big kanji, or use the default font instead. Now that you can render the text with any font you want, maybe it would be easy to implement.

Thanks!

Thanks, nice idea :) I'll look if it is possible to use two such fonts at the same time. Can you please post the example of such artistic font which I can test on?

siritinga commented 9 years ago

Of course. I downloaded several from http://www.freejapanesefont.com. For example, this is how it looks with the EPSON semicursive font:

2015-05-07 10 22 49

and this is with a cursive font:

2015-05-07 10 21 55

As you can see, the big font looks great but it is not useful for small fonts, it is unreadable.

By the way, I just noticed that the onyomi and kunyomi readings are shown using the system font, not the configured one.

Thanks!
