Support for reading metadata locally #280

I've switched to Windows 7 for 2 weeks. I'm testing built in Media Center
app. I use meta<browser/> and Media Center Master to retrieve metadata for
all my series. It's used then by Media Browser plugin in Windows 7 Media
Center. These apps download descriptions (xml), banners and fan-arts and
put them into particular serie folder.

Sample listing looks like below:
D:\Series\Chuck\series.xml (attached)
D:\Series\Chuck\backdrop.jpg
D:\Series\Chuck\banner.jpg
D:\Series\Chuck\folder.jpg
D:\Series\Chuck\Season 01\Chuck - S01E01 - Pilot.avi
D:\Series\Chuck\Season 01\metadata\Chuck - S01E01 - Pilot.xml (attached)
D:\Series\Chuck\Season 01\metadata\332179.jpg
D:\Series\Chuck\Season 01\backdrop.jpg
D:\Series\Chuck\Season 01\folder.jpg
etc.

It'd be great if mptvseries parser looked inside each serie folder and
tried to find all above stuff before it goes online. Or maybe there could
be an option like "Try to find serie metadata locally" or something like that.

I am going to switch back to MP 1.1.0 soon and this kind of feature would
be nice to have :)

What do you think about it?

thanks & regards,
emilento

This is similar to nfo file support that is being added to the service version.
So
should be able to add support for this to.

Hi, I am also pretty interessted in such a feature cause I have a mixed setup
with MediaPortal and XMBC which get the tvshows from a fileserver. nfo-files
and artwork is there as XMBC does expect it.
I guess it would be great to be compatible with XBMC.

I personally only need a reading-support for that files, but it may would be
great for further developments if mytvseries could generate this files with
online-scraped data if one of the files did not exist.

@Jonathan
You are writing something about a service-version. When do you think will this
version be available?

Thanks in advance and thanks for the great work all mptvseries-developers did
in the past. Without this plugin I probably wouldn't even use MediaPortal.

Somehow a little like https://code.google.com/p/mptvseries/issues/detail?id=548
but still something that makes it easier to make a backup, if it also supports
series that are not public (like private vacation "series", educational
"series" like Photoshop courses etc.) with fanart and watched status. I give a
star!
