Camera connecting without an issue but no images being taken/dowloading #107

Hi Michel,

Sorry to bother you. I wasn't sure if this was the best place to raise this issue (its almost certainly some simple mistake I have made).

All of my gear connects to MW4 without a problem. I am doing so via ASCOM and my camera is an ASI1600mm pro. The problem is that when I run a model, the mount behaves properly but no image is taken - I can't work out if an image is taken and isn't downloaded or simply there is no exposure. I assume that because I am connected to the camera that my set up is correct. I couldn't find anything about this in the manual.

Do you have any suggestion?

Thanks for all your work,

Simon

Hi Simon, you're welcome. Could you post the log file here?. This would help to check possible issues. Michel

Hi Michel,

I think I may have some clear sky tonight abs will get a log to you.

Many thanks

Simon

Hi Simon, this is great. As I checked the problem might be the ASI ASCOM driver. Could you test as well, if you imaging software using the asi ASCOM driver works ok?. In my setup SGPro 3.x hangs as well before downloading the image as the driver does not report image ready after the exposure time. It would be interesting if that happens in other applications, too. But they have to use the ASI ASCOM driver. Michel

Hi Michel,

I have tried my ASI1600mm again and I no problem connecting but not images are displayed - the log file simply says it is exposing. The camera works fine in SGP - and I tried it with ModelCreator and it works fine. I am very keen to use MW4 because of the rich analytical tools.

Let me know what I might try.

Many thanks

Simon

Simon, could you explain a little bit about your win environment. Pleas post the .log file, because most of the information I need for a possible reproduce is in there. Michel

Is there an option to just take an image? In other words, some way for me to test this issue during the day?

mworion commented 3 years ago

Yes, sure easy: please open the image window (button "Image"). There you could just press "Expose 1" to do an image.

Hi Michel,

I tried another ASI camera and the exposure is working. Now all I need is a clear night to test everything together. I will keep you updated. Many thanks for your ongoing support.

Best, Simon

Simon,

Sounds strange. As I think of buying a ASI, could you tell which one is working an which on causes troubles ?

Simon, did you use binning in your setup ? If yes, your topic might be related to Aries one #111. And should be solved in v1.0.3. If you would like, try update to v1.0.3 later and test again.

Hi Michel,

I am testing this now. Incidentally, does MW4 support QHY cameras?

Hi Simon, MW4 supports (or at least should) all cameras which have a ASCOM, INDI or INDIGO driver. So QHY should be not different. Sometimes the driver implementation (like QSI) has some teaks, which causes in special cases troubles, but nothing heard about QHY. Michel

PS: As soon (positive or negative) you have tried QHY, please send me a log (ideally in debug trace mode) that I can look into it.
