Final RMS is a huge number

Hi I just update mountwizzard to version 3.3 from 2.2.9 Setup is the same but with version 3 I canàt get a final RMS below very huge numbers while with version 2, the final RMS ranged from 10 to 15. Is there an explanation for this phenomenon?

could you do me a favor? Could you zip the image file image/m-2023-12-27-19-39-44-norm/image-004.fits and image/m-2023-12-27-19-39-44-norm/image-005.fits and post them here ?

I guess you did use the NINA controlled setting for the camera. For some reasons I see sometimes two identical solves for two different image files (at least I think so). Therefore I need this files for checking.

Edit: I build a beta with extended logging: v3.2.6b2 If you are able to install it an make another run (15-20 images will do). Hopefully I get the reason, why this does have duplicate images.

Michel In the meantime, I am attaching the pictures you requested. Unfortunately, the weather is not favorable; there is cloud cover. As soon as it clears up, I will take new pictures with 3.2.6b2. It should be decent by Saturday night. Thank you very much

Hi Giuseppe, I made a mistake in this v3.2.6b2 release (which made it not installable), the actual ones should work. Please wait until you see v3.2.6v5 as I made some changes there.

So far I concluded:

that NINA due to race conditions did not finish writing the image file when already reported as done -> I tried to access a non existing file. So I added a short waiting time.
that the coordinates gathered from the mount written from NINA to fits header do not match the exposing target as the mount moves already when saving takes place. So I write the coordinates in the file myself.
improves the situation if the mount is not connected in NINA, solving through e.g. ASTAP still work nicely. Hope this will solve the problems. Michel

Hi Giuseppe, please upload the log file, then I could see what's going wrong with the beta install. You could manually update (if you feel good with it):

Open terminal window Change directory to your work directory (where /log /venv folders and startup.pyz are in) run the following command:

python3 startup.pyz --upgrade-beta

You also could now see if there are any errors upcoming. Michel

Edit: if you reply per mail, no attachments are added to this chat, so please post them via web to this thread. Edit 2: I submitted v3.2.6b6, which should be able to update also

Michel from the command line, the installation was fine. The installed version is now v3.2.6b5 (readingg the mail...) Hope this helps.

As soon as the weather is clear, I will do the alignment test you requested, producing about twenty images.

Giuseppe, sent you a request for accessing you data. Still strange as Bruce (which had similar problems with NINA) now sees good results with 3.2.6b6. I have to dig in a little bit more. Michel
