hi all. I make article about MXE on russian Wikipedia: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/MXE_(%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B3%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%BC%D0%B0) Article is marked by moderator "to delete". Discussion: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%B8%D1%8F:%D0%9A_%D1%83%D0%B4%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%8E/3_%D1%84%D0%B5%D0%B2%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8F_2017#MXE_.28.D0.BF.D1.80.D0.BE.D0.B3.D1.80.D0.B0.D0.BC.D0.BC.D0.B0.29

Because the article doesn't contain links on reliable (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Identifying_reliable_sources) sources. Does anyone know a reliable publications about MXE? Maybe there are any publications in paper journals?

Current list of links: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/MXE_(%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B3%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%BC%D0%B0)#.D0.A1.D1.81.D1.8B.D0.BB.D0.BA.D0.B8

Initially I might have thought that MXE wouldn't warrant an article but thinking about it more, the lack of publications is more an indicator that there "should" be more reporting about the general cross-compile landscape and MXE's part in that.

I'm surprised that there aren't articles for msys2 and crosstool-ng when there's one for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UnxUtils. On the talk page for that, the notability issues:

Any computer literate would readily admit that a set of UNIX commands on a Microsoft Windows machine is an important thing. Especially one that does not require additional libraries or windows registry access. UnxUtils is historically one of the first collections of such utilities.--Unconcerned (talk) 03:13, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Likewise, anyone interested in free software or approaches to build environments would find MXE a useful addition to their knowledge. The real world impact is that you can use a fork of MXE to build GNU Octave and use it in Stanford's Online Machine Learning course - opening that up to vast numbers.

I can't make much sense of the discussion on Russian Wikipedia (Google translate;) but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. There's a WikiProject Computing which has a quality scale that may help with concrete pointers and guidelines.

Some links from http://mxe.cc/#see-also and http://mxe.cc/#used-by can be useful to demonstrate the significance of the package.

Can we also write an article in Russian about MXE and publish it on habrahabr.ru? (I have an account with publishing capabilities there.) It would be useful not only for that discussion on Wikipedia.

I have used links from there (It is not enought).

Articles about a reliable for software: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(software) https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%B8%D1%8F:%D0%9A%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%B8_%D0%B7%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%87%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B8_%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B3%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%BC

quote from Russian Wikipedia: Также следует помнить, что значимость программного обеспечения не определяется контекстом его использования, то есть программа не становится значимой «автоматически» лишь потому, что её использует знаменитый человек или она используется для создания значимого продукта.

You can do it if you want.

@starius I think that an article about MXE at Habrahabr would be very useful. But personally I do not have enough time and skill to write an interesting review.
