• login and signup functionality with bcrypt and google login, added some extra functionality for the media tags

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into?

• learning google authentication was difficult, ended up just using a react library instead

What do you plan to work on for this coming iteration (2 weeks)?

• allow querying stories based on tags, hook up story modals to backend

• find and clean up edge cases and bugs

• prepare for the demo

• Working on UI for search and filter functionalities
• Implemented the category filter on home page
• Bring up ideas for UI adjustment

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into?

• My progress is a bit behind

• Finish entire UI for search and filter in next 1 week
• Any bug fixes
• Prepare for demo

csid: s5n0b What did you work on this past iteration (2 weeks)?

• Add backend apis for fetching users' books & movies lists
• Connecting the Profile page to the backend

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into?

• The documentation for the Carousel package that we are using only has code examples, but does not explain in detail about the usage of each prop. When I was rending a mixture of books & movies as cards in the same carousel container, the change broke the current styling, and the carousel was not functioning properly. After a few hours of trial & error, it turned out that it was because the carousel container from the package does not handle display correctly when there are more than 1 Array.map functions as the children of the container.

What do you plan to work on for this coming iteration (2 weeks)?

• Polish the Profile page
• Possibly allow users to update their profile
• If there's time, add loading indicators to every component that performs http requests.

• finish and hook up all movie api functionalities to deploy a fully function webapp, and improve UI and Algo performance for better user experiences.
• restructure project for effective heroku deployment and update readme for self-serve

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into?

• play with useEffect to achieve data binding and explore its limitations for fun.
• reading dev docs for useful tools we can integrate into our app

What do you plan to work on for this coming iteration (2 weeks)?

• polish project, fix bugs, and affirm meeting all requirements
• prepare demo
