Definition:

The drivers are crazy in Malta and there is nothing to control them.

How can locals take the initiative and make drivers care more?

They do not follow any rules and there are not enough officers to keep an eye on them. There should be a system -which is not easy to abuse- to report these abusers. I was thinking about a whatsapp group but people may troll the conversation. What can we do?

@python-matte there is nothing about the statistics of the accidents so that we can calculate the economic damage of the problem and define an ideal budget with the right economic leverage @team-data

(Thanks to @python-matte for raising it up. I edited the idea and gave you a heart for the contribution.Please reconsider your thumbs down) What if we collaborate with Taxify drivers and ask them to report the abuse in traffic? They are there 24/7 and there is no extra cost for them if they use their phone to record the abuse if it is possible on the app itself?

Maybe it is a good way for them to make that commitment to not to violate the rules themselves as well. Taxify can activate the rear camera as a surveillance tool and ask the drivers to put it on the front glass. Since it is video only and it is facing the road, it won't be a threat to privacy. And when the driver/passenger sees a violation they can just press one button to taxify save the data from that vehicle +- 2 mins. Like drivers can report accidents, road constructions, traffic on waze. The same way, it will not take their attention and time.

Can we ask taxify to develop the feature, it is free PR for them? And then ecabs and others can join the movement. what do you say about the idea? thumbs up my idea please!

Team-challenge @sonatantepli CR, I believe this would potentially be hard to materialize as the drivers are there to focus on providing the best service to their customers as oppose to taking notes of who did what in traffic. I think they would not be too keen on taking this extra responsibility. Another thing I would take into consideration is that most of these taxi drivers (eCabs especially) are the worst traffic offenders as they take shortcuts and perform illegal moves to get as fast as possible to their destination to be able to get more customers during their shift.
