• Registration form

• Support stages of live event:

  • Student Showcase: Embedded video
  • Team Challenge: Digital escape room. Currently this has been delivered by Google Forms. Here is information on how that works.
  • Everybody Get Up: Physical movement, i.e. embedded video
  • All Play Fast: This has up to now been a single-player speed-round Kahoot quiz and the scores of individual kids were added manually to their class in the DB. Doing this manually during a live event is not sustainable
  • Maker Challenge: The kids do a hands-on activity solo

• Time-limited access for users during live event only

• Run puzzles and activities for users

• Keep score and display on leaderboard

  • In the original, it was scored by class. This entailed a mixture of 1 video call "participant" which was kids in-classroom, joined by other classmates who were at home, making up one hybrid class.

• Permit kids to do the puzzles while still having access to video of the MC

  • In the original Zoom event, each classroom was a breakout room and the MC was in all of them (I assume via OBS? - I can ask)
  • When we did it, each class was a Google Meet and the MC livestreamed and was screenshared

• Permit the MC to spotlight (share video of) kids in the audience for prizes and general feeling of connection

  • This would ideally be a full grid of the kids in a call, think Muppet Show intro.

• Puzzle and activity content to be updatable by non-developers

• Looks fun and reflects 2BCF branding

Relevance: there is demand from schools Kids should only have access to their specific carnival instance Each pod has a facilitator - for the team content the faciltator should have control How to scaffold future engagement? email + instance id? just email? Integrating video platform APIs would be too crazy - to spotlight the kids Khan academy has a system where users can write modules without coding Wordpress escape room format A scenario that gives points Wordpress to handle logins - registration etc. buddypress - social network emulator that allows groups timed access - there may be a plugin for that. the group can be limited by other criteria rather than the time. Wordpress forms have conditional logic

-what defines a carnival? schoolwide event -how are account set up (students, 1-2 facilitator per pod) students are only 1 one pod and are always in a pod -student accounts are created ahead of time by registration. emails from the domain of the school req' - password or magic link both OK -team stuff: the facilitator is screensharing and submitting the form -someone on the team can be designated to report progress to the MC -does wordpress have a quiz plugin? -scoring is really really hard -validation of the changing content -CATASTROPHIC FAILURE <--dont dallas - how were they in every breakout room? -a separate wordpress from our site, which we can delete it for each instance "hawthorne.steamcarnival.com"
