To learn more about view providers, I suggest taking a look at the Draft workbench. The base viewprovider user by most Draft objects is in view_base.py, ViewProviderDraftObject. Many objects inherit this class, but many others implement their own from scratch in their own view_*.py files.

Probably it makes more sense that you implement the few view providers we need. It is nothing which needs to be done soon, anyway.
