What brand/model quad NICs do you use?

How is the performance of the Synology DS2015xs?

Just the onboard Dell NICs, they're Intel I believe. 2015xs is killing it, hasn't skipped a beat with 40+ VMs running concurrently, latencies consistently very low, all good.

Oh thats interesting to hear re the Synology 2015xs . I read that the Annapurna CPU couldn't keep up with the 10Gb NIC speeds? I was seriously considering the 2015xs as its the only affordable 10Gb SAN for home that I know of but was concerned about the non-Intel CPU being a bottleneck. I also wanted to run about 40VMs. Whats disks do you use in what RAID configutation?

I can't comment on the 10GbE yet as I have just taken delivery of the 3064PQ as above, when I do i'll be sure to update :)

I have 6x HGST Ultrastar 7k4000 disks with an SSD RAID1 cache in front.

Currently running about 40 active VMs, not a problem on 1GbE.
