Nice article. I'm confused about something though. I need to deploy a VM from an OVA file on a remote host. The OVA file resides on a datastore on the remote host. I need to be able to deploy without creating network traffic back to my location. In other words, no middle man.

Hi Roger,

This will not create traffic back to your location as it is deployed from the remote machine.

Hi Myles,

I am trying to use 'vi://domain\username:password@VcenterIP/data_center/Common%20cluster/esxiIP/' to connect the esxi to deploy a ovf i have, but it is failing. Is this the correct syntax for the url I am using?

Thanks,
Nil.

I imagine you have to escape the space with a \ not %20
