• Homework 6 PDF file HERE - I was not able to made a "readable" md file because of the stringr view functions and receiving endless error messages, so I have made a pdf for you guys. You can also clone my repository and then run the script on your computer, which will allow you to visualize the html output of (latex_engine: xelatex).

As mentioned in my README and homework files, I have tried something different and I am usually able to fit genomic data into the homework requirements frame, but this homework was particularly long and challenging, so I had to face some significant limitations.

Hi, My Linh! I think you did a great job on your homework6, I really enjoyed browsing your codes and comments. You have picked two topics and carefully completed them. We all know that the workload of this assignment is very heavy, but your homework is perfect.

1. As for the Character data part, you followed the content ofstringrchapter and created your own strings from your research areas to answer the questions. Your answers are correct and reasoned. I think it is a great way to practice what you have learned on class and also prepare for your own studies. You gave detailed explanations of the codes and also your thinkings. Besides, I like some of your interesting notes like ICU.

2. As for the Work with list part, I did not choose to finish this topic. From the answers for the tutorial exercises, you have fully understood different kind of map()inpurrr. Moreover, are you still stuck by the SSL certificates issues? It looks like you solved it, but from what I have learned, I think the general solution is to download a new certificate or trust a existing certificate.

3. You described your str_view()problems in detail and reported what you learned carefully. By the way, I want to say Thanks to you because your solution for str_view() works for me and I also put a pdf file in my homework as I learned from you.

HI, I should say you have put a hell lot of effort and time on this assignment and its clear your work is just amazing, starting form incorporating new data to manipulating the data in your own way everything is pure awesome.

• Completed two exercises
• Whole repo is very well organised
• Everything done is very clearly explained
• Progress report and resources are provided
• Tried many new things and I got to learn a lot of new things

Comments:

• In your first exercise of stringr, you actually did every exercise in great detail and flawlessly, its great to see that you have also included stringi in your work. I got to learn multiple new functions and different ways of using them. You might want to use str_sub instead of grep if you want (both gives the same result) and also maybe while using str_view command instead of having such a huge output maybe decrease the size of input to show what differences you want to show (as the aim is to show how different arguments are different)
• From your second exercise its clear that you have a very deep understanding of purrr and map as well as nested data type. I am sorry I have no clue how to solve the problems you have faced thus can't be of any help here. But there was a great deal of things I learned by reviewing your homework.

Comments:

• Super excited to see someone applying the course material directly to their research!
• Was not expecting anyone to make up their own exercises for the character data chapter but these work and you have covered each section.
• Any idea why your last str_replace example flips the order of the 2nd and 3rd word?
• It is good practice to load libraries at the top of the document – makes it easier to see what you are using.
• I am finding it a bit difficult to follow your work – I think it's due to lack of familiarity with the data structures you are using. You seem to have used View() to get a handle on them as you worked through it, but that doesn't come across with the pdf and I had difficulty downloading your html. I can tell that you understand the material, but can't help you out with the specific problems you are having!
• While nested lists can be difficult to manipulate, I hope you've seen that they can also be useful (just maybe not for your specific applications).
