Some of parts of this are discussed in https://github.com/mysociety/alaveteli/issues/285#issuecomment-452820327, though that was more intended as what name you sign off with rather than a large free text field. I'd favour something pretty short to avoid the inclusion of substantial extraneous material in the signature.

Maybe a limit of ~80-140 characters would be good.
