Consider setting up a Wikipedia page for FMT #720

It is considered bad practice to set up a page about yourself, so this would have to be a task for the wider community.

Wikipedia is one of our top referrers (via the mysociety page) and it wouldn't hurt to have a FMT page on there (currently it's a red link, suggesting that someone else also thinks it should be a page).

Comments from: Mark J: Has to be done externally - not something anyone related to MySoc or FMT can du unfortunately (marketing pages are frowned upon) @fmtdixon Is this really a key point? We could set up a Wikipedia style page. We have a very good Alexa Rank. I don't want to spend time on something we cannot actually deliver. How much traffic does FMS get from Wikipedia that translates to reports? @myfanwynixon Wikipedia brings FMS about 50 visitors a month. FMS' Google Analytics isn't set up to record report-making as a goal, so I can't say how many 'convert' from there. OK, it probably isn't a key point - Wikipedia links are automatically 'no follow' so you don't get any Google benefit from them. OTOH it would add to brand awareness even if in a small way.

I'm aware of the 'must be done externally' rule, however, I think a volunteer is external enough, provided that he sticks to the rules about complete impartiality and providing a citation for every fact. Mark J: I will ask a friend who's a Wikipedia editor what he thinks of one of us volunteers doing it, else I'll put a shout on Twitter asking for a writer
