RichardTaylor commented February 23, 2011 This will be required if we are to, as is being considered, add Isle of Man public bodies to WhatDoTheyKnow as we shouldn't describe those as being "in the UK".
bjh21 commented June 25, 2011 We've now lost the "in the UK", which is a start.

This is a suggestion for a small technical improvement to WhatDoTheyKnow. At the moment, each public authority page describes the body as "in the UK". I think it would be helpful if it could instead say "in England", "in Wales", "in Scotland", or "in Northern Ireland" based on tags (say "england", "wales", "scotland", and "ni"), with "in the UK" being the default.
This would mean that we could avoid having to have "(Northern Ireland)" in the names of so many bodies. It might also help people to distinguish between local councils in different areas that have different responsibilities.
There are arguments for allowing finer-grained location, such as "A parish council in Hampshire", but that needs more thought to avoid silliness like describing Hampshire County Council as "A local council in Hampshire".
