It needs to be specifically allowed in private mode, and as far as I remember, there's a bug in Opera that breaks it anyway. Feel free to respond.

I want to check if this bug still exists, and then report it to Opera.

Checked. Bug-or-feature still exists - looks like Private Tab doesn't send events to addon's handlers. Other addon's authors complain for the same issue.
