Airwatch MDM Agent #30

Closed warpig5 closed 11 years ago

warpig5 commented 12 years ago

Think this one is possible? It's free on the app store. Would be really grateful :)

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

Actually poking at one of the paths they look for it appears to be missing from our list. Hopefully Beta 2 will get 4.1 working because of that.

pomc commented 11 years ago

Great news. I can certainly be a dedicated tester since I'm an Airwatch server admin, so that works out nicely. I'll def be sending a donation as well because I do appreciate the work you've done with Xcon. First found out about it over a year ago when my directv app stopped working after an upgrade.

Thanks again,

Rick

Airwatch MDM 4.2 was just released on the 10th. We're not using it here yet, but just an FYI that there's a new version.

zackyat commented 11 years ago

Looking fwd to this! My company has been blocking us! Thanks in advance

bubbaiOS commented 11 years ago

Any updates on this? @pomc has @Lunat1k contacted you about helping?

macheesemo commented 11 years ago

Version 38 Beta 2 is not working with Airwatch 4.2. Thanks

carmonap commented 11 years ago

My company just instituted a BYOD policy with airwatch 4.2. Please let me know when xcon will be updated... I cannot jailbreak until xcon is updated.

pomc commented 11 years ago

I can still help out by providing any Airwatch info since I'm an Airwatch admin. Just let me know.

Please keep me posted. I would love to be able to Jailbreak my Iphone 5. Thanks

mw900000 commented 11 years ago

I could really use this too. Airwatch 4.2.0

bubbaiOS commented 11 years ago

@Toliver182, if you're thinking of Flex, it's not going to be much help for these types of apps. xCon is more flexible for apps that are designed to be secure like these that hide their JB detection functions. I have console access to both Mobileiron and Airwatch and I've had no use in disabling their JB schemes via Flex.

Our best chance is getting @Lunat1k to work with @pomc who has console access.

ajfathers commented 11 years ago

Any updates...??? At least can someone point us to Airwatch MDM Agent 3.0.8 ipa/deb file? The WiKi page says xCon works on AirWatch MDM Agent 3.0.8 so if we find the IPA for "AirWatch MDM Agent 3.0.8" and install it, will xCON hide the JB from AirWatch MDM Agent and will it allow to install the profile (i.e. certificate) thinking our iPhone is "non-compromised" or "compliant" ????

CGtrue commented 11 years ago

I would not hold my breath for xCon or any other similar app to work well with AW version 4 and above. At my workplace, we had AW agent pentested and it was not trivial to bypass it. This was done by people who had previously bypassed version 3. We had not one, but two iOS security folks with experience in JB look at this and both were of the opinion that yes, you could technically bypass AW but it is VERY hard since the hooks of the agent are much deeper into iOS now than previous versions.

ajfathers commented 11 years ago

Damn...!!! That means no office emails on my iphone, at least for now :(. (well, I am not going to lose my JB just for readind my office emails on my iPhone...lol)

Like I said, if by any chance, we can use the older version of AW MDM (3.0.8 or 4.1 or whichever is/was patched in xCon), it will be great :).

EDIT: Everywhere on internet I searched for AirWatch MDM 3.0.8 ipa, I end up going to 4.2 version :(. This is crazy... even none of the repos on Cydia have AW MDM 3.0.8 download...!!!

george4073 commented 11 years ago

@pomc Is there a setting on the Airwatch server that would allow Jailbroken iphones to work or does Airwatch automatically block jailbroken phones with no way around it?

pomc commented 11 years ago

There is a setting that can be enabled to prevent JB devices, just warn JB devices or to even white list a device of you don't want it affected by security profiles. Air watch can also be configured to not pay attention to JB devices.

teohwk commented 11 years ago

I am also a jailbreaking fan currently being forced to use AirWatch. Will keep an eye on this page on a daily basis :)

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

@teohwk the nice thing about github is that when I update an issue you'll get an email.

teohwk commented 11 years ago

@Lunat1k Great... Now I will have to keep an eye on my email on a daily basis :)

Being kicked back to jail by Airwatch is not fun...

posrjak commented 11 years ago

Ok had to sign up so I can get an email for the updated Xcon thanks Lunat1k. Company just rolled out Airwatch. Oh boy can't loose my jailbreak

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

FYI I should have this working pretty soon.

Sweet I'll try it out in a bit. What would you consider a fair donation for your work?

Thanks

Yeah posrjak, I know... sorry, I spoke too soon :(. I thought once the profile is installed from iPhone, everything is done but then it showed me that orange triangle with exclamation and our corporate device registration website said "device is compromised" and "Your device is compromised and you are not allowed to install profiles."... damn

Darn ok that sucks.

@Toliver182 I don't patch anything directly to apps anymore. I do things at a global level. I found a bunch of paths they check for and added it to the list. I have one questionable one I'll need to check on. Unfortunately without a valid url to test I can't trigger it to see what it's dong.

posrjak commented 11 years ago

Is there any file or information on phones we could share with you in order for you to look at?

Not sure how much I can share but thought I'd ask

Thanks

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

@Toliver182 this is why I need a url to test. trying to find the right fopen call is a pain esp if the string is obsfucated. I have to be able to see what they are doing because the string has to be normal when they call a standard clib or objc function.

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

@Toliver182 oh I know i'm just making a point. I already have the decrypted ipa too. The problem is that some apps don't store the strings with the apps. Some apps even get them from a remote server so that it's not as easy to patch. I did happen to patch what I could find but not others yet.

ajfathers commented 11 years ago

Thanks Lunat1k for all the hard work...!!! If you want, I can share the URL (our corp server) which we are supposed to put in the Airwatch MDM agent, but of course I can't share the token/group ID which is required for actual registration:). Please let me know where you want the URL to be sent and I can send you a private email.

@Toliver182 image count actually messing things up for none JB apps.I have to actually Allstate the image name now. f I don't it breaks a bunch of apps.

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

@Toliver182 and yes its been patched for a while but after recent discovery its no the best option to take.

As7eroidS commented 11 years ago

any updates?

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

Yes there was a full day of updates. You should read up.

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

Heh you sound really desperate. btw some of the things you mentioned xcon already handles. They don't do the same things as mentioned on the iphone wiki and there are a lot of ways to detect things. xcon code is pretty massive now on what it has to do.

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

btw I did fine some additional detections in a few other apps. it may or may not apply to airwatch.

Lunat1k commented 11 years ago

Not yet I'm still doing some code cleanup on some other detections I found.
