Can't switch from Classic to Modern interface #1487

Hi, I switched from the default modern interface appearance to the classic
interface appearance to see how it looked (I went to options->Interface
Appearance, made the selection and then restarted texmaker) but now that I'm
attempting to switch back to the modern appearance via the same process (which
includes restarting texmaker and even Kubuntu) it always starts with the
classic interface appearance.

I tried apt-get purge texmaker followed by a reinstall of texmaker but
apparently there are still some configuration files that texmaker stores
somewhere that survive the purge.
How can I get back to the modern interface appearance and/or where are these
configuration files that survive the purge stored so that I can delete them?

Thanks!

Update: I've found that this issue can be fixed by going to
Options -> Settings File -> Reset Settings
and then if you have saved your previous settings you can then restore them or
else reconfigure everything.

So this issue post is more of a bug report and information about how to fix
this issue for anyone else who has encountered this problem.
