Define a User Tag for code snippet is not working with @ character inside it

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Go to Menu->User->User Tags->Edit User Tag->Menu Item: escapechar (by example)
2.Latex Content
(*@ @*)

What is the expected output?
The expected output in Latex Code should be:
(*@ @*)
What do you see instead?
The expected output that I see is (*• •*)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
4.4.1 version. Linux
