Testing for CCRL #1

Open SzotsGabor opened 2 years ago

Hi Narbeh,

I just want you to know that I have started a tournament with Captain 2.0 for the CCRL blitz list. In case you don't know, this is the URL: http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404/

Deadline for submitting games for this week is tomorrow evening and I hope I'll be finished by that.

You can see that we include author's country whenever possible, may I know yours?

Hi,

My country is the United States. I have one question - if/when I update my engine, how should I submit the new version to the CCRL?

Thank you, Narbeh Mouradian.

SzotsGabor commented 2 years ago

There is no need to submit anything. Now that we are aware of your engine we are going to follow its development and pick up new versions. Anyway, if you have a new version that you deem worth testing you might announce it at CCRL's public forum (http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/discussion-board/) or at Talkchess (http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewforum.php?f=2) where there is a dedicated thread for new releases. At least those are the places I frequent most.

PS. Please note that we can't promise to test every version of any engine because of the great number of engines and CCRL's limited resources.

I can see you have released 3.0. However, the exe is named Captain as before, the displayed engine id has not changed either. This makes it somewhat difficult to distinguish between versions. What is the strength improvement between 3.0 and 2.0 approximately?

n4h commented 1 year ago

It should be about 100 elo stronger. Please use v3.1 which fixes the engine ID and filename. It is otherwise the exact same as v3.0.
